Like millions of muggles all over the world I found it very hard to sleep on Friday night.
The release of JK Rowling's final book in the Harry Potter series (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) had me so excited it felt like Christmas Eve all over again.
Needless to say when the Advertiser needed a reporter to attend the book release at Borders I jumped at the chance.
There's something about the exciting world of Harry Potter and its characters that always brings out the kid in me.
I'm not sure how she did it but J.K Rowling has managed to capture the hearts and minds of millions of people across the globe.
And it's not just the young ones.
The line at Borders on Saturday had muggles of all ages, not to mention a few wizards, witches and dementors.
The seven books published to date have been very popular and collectively sold more than 325 million copies in 63 languages.
I read most of the books during my years at uni.
I always found comfort in knowing that I could escape the real world for a few hours to spend some time at Hogwarts.
The books were easy to read and always action packed with many twists and turns to keep readers guessing.
The writing style of J.K Rowling makes you feel like you are actually there in the wizarding world - it's true!
But while my uni mates were those fans you saw sitting outsife the book store reading Harry from front to back as soon as they got their copy - I always took my time.
Mostly because I never want the book to finish.
When I sat down to read the final book on Saturday I became quite sad when I realised that this would be the last time I'd learn something new about my friends Harry, Ron and Hermione.
Never again would I eagerly turn the page to find out what happens next.
Who wins the game of wizards chess, who dies at the Tri Wizard Tournament, or who Voldemort kills as part of his plan to take over the wizarding world?
The look of excitement on everyone's faces at Borders on Saturday is something I'll never forget.
And it doesn't matter that the series has ended.
The great thing about these books is that you can read them over and over again and still feel as though you are part of the magical and mysterious world of Harry Potter.
And without giving away the ending of Harry's final conquest let me say one thing - the wizarding world will never be the same again, and thanks to J.K Rowling, neither will mine.
