PICTON artist Virginia Casey appreciates the wonder of life and this is the central theme of a one-day-only retrospective of her work at the Heritage Railway Precinct in Robertson.
Casey said the exhibition featured work heavily influenced by her travels to countries such as Egypt and Pakistan. She said the works attempted to portray a deep passion for environmental matters.
``I have come to realise that the world we live in is our greatest concern and through art I can help awaken people to the vast resource of life and beauty we are fast destroying,'' Casey said.
``I hope that my art speaks to the heart and soul of everyone who views it.''
Casey's work ranges from thoughtful studies of Australian flora and fauna through to modern renditions of the Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. These latter works were produced following studies under Charles McCubbin, the grandson of the famous Australian artist Frederick McCubbin.
Casey's work will be at Fettlers Shed Gallery, Robertson, on Sunday, July 27 from 10am. Details: The Gallery, 48851256.
