WOLLONDILLY will get a new public school but not for 2 years.
It was announced last week that construction of a primary school at Bingara Gorge estate near Wilton will begin in 2010 with pupils in classrooms by January 2011.
A recent land agreement between the Department of Education and Training and Delfin Lend Lease means Bingara is on track to deliver a promised school to its new residents.
The land agreement has set aside a three-hectare site near the shops, restaurants and community facilities.
Once complete the school will cater for 300 children in classes kindergarten to year 6.
Bingara Gorge project director Paul Gerlach said: ``This is a major milestone and it recognises the demand for primary school places from the growing population in the south- western growth corridor.
``The school will form a major part of the Bingara Gorge community as residents begin to move into their new homes.''
