MICHAEL Banasik, Wollondilly's new mayor, is now the head of two tables.
And they bear a striking resemblance to each other.
He has his son-in-law, Deputy Mayor Simon Landow, on his left and his son, Cr Benn Banasik, on his right, and some people say that the only thing missing from the monthly meetings is meat and three veges.
Cr Banasik senior recently said that discussion at his family dinner table was sometimes more heated than council meetings.
All three have denied that their family ties will affect decisions they make for Wollondilly.
Tension was high at last week's meeting when Cr Banasik defeated Cr Judy Hannan for the top job 6-3, with the same councillors sticking together to vote in Cr Landow over Cr Shane Read.
The Banasiks made history last month when the three family members were voted to council with Cr Banasik junior's running mate, Cassandra Twarloh.
Voting together, they are just one person short of an absolute majority, which is what helped Cr Banasik over the line in Monday night's vote.
The mayor said he would like to dedicate his new role to his late father.
``My father was a Polish prisoner of war in Siberia,'' he said.
``He was a simple man with basic beliefs who believed in fighting for freedom and not owing anything to anyone.''
Outgoing mayor Judy Hannan congratulated Cr Banasik senior and thanked the staff and the general manager for their hard work.
``I really enjoyed my time as mayor and the public need to know I'll be working just as hard now,'' she said. ``I've learned an incredible amount and enjoyed meeting the community members of Wollondilly.''
Cr Banasik is looking forward to lobbying the State Government for more services in the shire. ``We need to try to get better services, whether it's roads, sewerage or public transport,'' he said.
