COUNCILLOR Simon Landow is leading the North Ward independent team to the local government elections. His team also includes Craig Harris and Cheyne Bernoth.
Cr Landow, who was deputy mayor in 2007, has lived in the shire most of his life and operates a small mobile welding business.
``I want to keep [the ward] rural, fix local roads, and improve sporting, youth, child care, aged and disability services,'' he said. ``I want to continue to protect the environment and support bushfire volunteers, the SES, library services and community programs.''
Cr Landow said he wanted to see improved streetscapes in The Oaks and Warragamba and for flashing lights outside every school.
Team member Craig Harris was the school captain of Picton High School in 2001 and has led and volunteered in many local arts ventures, including Wollondilly Youth Week.
``I believe more money should be spent in North Ward and not just Picton especially on roads and public transport,'' he said.
``I will also push for improved community facilities and services and continue to retain the rural atmosphere of our shire.''
Cheyne Bernoth lives in Silverdale and also owns and operates a small local business.
He said he wanted to be a voice for the people of Warragamba and Silverdale.
``I want to improve the disgraceful roads, especially Silverdale Road at Baines Hill, push for more police in the area, improve the public transport and local infrastructure, and implement a bypass to ease the pressure off Baines Hill,'' he said.
``More money is needed urgently and I will ensure that your voice will be heard.''
