Hot Roosters belt Oakdale

5/08/2008 1:00:00 AM
THE final round of the Group 6 Country Rugby League season wrapped up on Sunday with a big win to Thirlmere/Tahmoor and a close game between Camden and Picton.

Thirlmere remained undefeated after thumping Oakdale 48-10 and seem favourites to win the premiership.

Oakdale's Todd Pes was sent off in the 17th minute for a high tackle, so the Workers were a man down for most of the game.

Two quick tries to Shane Martin and Adam Rae shot the Roosters to an early lead.

Following the sending off, Troy Wozniak made a break to send Leo Dynevor on a 30-metre run to the line to score. With a comfortable 20-4 half-time lead, the Roosters built on their lead with Jason Sampson and Luke Turner performing well to add to the scoreboard.

A Bart Masters try gave the Workers some consolation, before Thirlmere/Tahmoor ran in another three tries, one a 60-metre run by Turner.

Camden secured fourth place on the ladder with a four-point win over Picton.

Picton had the best of the play in the first half but eventually went down 26-22.

Trailing 18-6 as half-time approached, Camden got back in the game with try from Luke Wisbey.

Narellan forfeited to Moss Vale in first grade as well as Under-18s.

The final placings were Thirlmere topping the ladder, Moss Vale in second place, Oakdale in third, with Camden fourth, Picton in fifth spot and Narellan footing the ladder.

The elimination finals will take place on the weekend:
