Lucky 13 for Roosters

THIRLMERE/TAHMOOR recorded their 13th Group 6 Country Rugby League first grade win of the season against Camden on Sunday.

A battling Camden team could not stop the Roosters winning 30-20.

In a close game in the first half, the Roosters went into the break with a 10-8 lead.

The score blew out midway through the second half when the Roosters scored three tries to lead 24-8.

But late in the game, two Camden tries in two minutes, brought the Rams to within four points to create an exciting finish.

Right on full-time Roosters captain Adam Rae scored a try from a kick to seal the game.

Best players for Thirlmere/Tahmoor were Shane Martin, Leo Dynevor and Jason Sampson while for Camden Luke Wisby and Sam Campbell stood out.

On their home ground at Community Oval, Moss Vale gave Picton a real hiding, winning 62-6.

Picton were without key players Matt Brinkworth, Nathan Sutton and Justin Miller.

Trailing 38-0 at half-time, Picton struggled to match the Dragons.

The second half showed only a slight improvement for the Magpies.

Moss Vale scored 12 tries to one in the one-sided game.

The Dragons' Robert Wiya was brilliant in the backline, outclassing his opposition and scoring two tries and Daniel Drewe also scored a double.

Jon Cresswell was also in good form in the Dragons' pack and Damian Barton was another worth a mention.

For Picton, Darren Nolan, Nathan Willard and Jeremy Mackay tried hard in a well-beaten team.

Oakdale retained second place on the ladder by defeating Narellan 54-26.

Narellan were trailing 18-6 but they scored two intercept tries, one by Todd Black running 80 metres, then Ryan Crocker grabbed a stray pass to also run 80 metres to score under the posts.

This shattered the Workers as they trooped off at half-time with the score at 18-all.

Narellan kept the pressure on Oakdale in the second half for a while but they faded and allowed Oakdale to pile on the points.

In Sunday's first grade games at 2.30pm, Moss Vale host Narellan at Community Oval, Camden take on Picton at Kirkham Park and Thirlmere/Tahmoor will play Oakdale at Thirlmere Sportsground.

Cunningham tips: Moss Vale by 10 points, Camden by 8 and

Thirlmere by 8.
