PICTON Rangers hosted reigning champions Dandaloo Lions at Hume Oval in a must-win game for Picton and didn't let their fans down. Winning 2-1, Picton scored through an Andrew Borg header in the 30th minute Borg's 17th goal of the season in the Illawarra Football Association Premier League.
Dandaloo applied the pressure after half-time but Borg and Matt Tesorerio looked dangerous on the counter-attack for Picton.
Dandaloo won a penalty in the 70th minute but Matt Cox saved the low strike to keep Picton in the lead. Tesorerio used his blinding pace to beat the defenders to a through ball and volleyed home from 20 metres to extend the lead to 2-0.
Dandaloo pulled a goal back from a miss-shot clearance but Picton's defence grabbed the three points.
Picton's reserve grade team earned a point after Jessie Howard's goal gave them a 1-1 draw. Youth grade won 1-0, courtesy of a Tristan Langar goal.
