Vodka drink veto

11/10/2008 1:00:01 AM

PUBLICANS in Sydney's south-west are refusing to stock a vodka-based drink because they say it is too strong for young and inexperienced drinkers.

Smirnoff Ice Double Black has 7 per cent alcohol, almost twice as much as full-strength beer, with each bottle containing 1.9 standard drinks.

More than 30 pubs and clubs, all part of the Campbelltown Liquor Accord, voted this week to ban the drink, saying it was fuelling violence and antisocial behaviour because it was consumed more quickly than other drinks and usually by young people engaged in binge-drinking.
